This past weekend I had the opportunity to meet horsewoman, author and photographer Karelin (Karstaedt) Sammann. She is a local author/photographer who has published some beautiful books based on the western lifestyle. Her photography is stunning and her words insightful.
I purchased a copy of her Women and Their Horses book. A delightful collection of photography, poems and reflections on women and the horses in their lives. The photographs are of Tulare County women from 1982 – 1995so you might know some of the subjects.
In Karelin’s forwards she shares ” Raised on the back of a horse I spent years in the show arena and riding on a precision drill team.During my teenage years, with my parents, we packed into the high Sierra Nevada mountains near our home town of Porterville, California…. I found a knack and love for writing verses for my photography…. May you enjoy what your read in the following pages and may some of the these stories/verses and/or pictures bring back memories of you and your horses.”
She is also the photographer and author of Sierra Honeymoon and California Working Cowboys of the 80’s.
Her books are available on Amazon.com but you can contact her directly for the local price.
If you would like more information on Karelin or her books she can be contacted at 559.310.5925 or at email@example.com.
